Located on Hutchinson Island, just over the Savannah Bridge, the Savannah Harbor Golf Course is on the Westin Hotel complex.
This 18-hole course was designed by Bob Cupp and Sam Snead opened in 1999, and has hosted several professional events. The course has been honored by Golf Digest with a four-star rating and named among the top courses in Georgia by Golf Advisor for seven consecutive years (2014-2020). There are beautiful views of wetlands, the Savannah waterfront and the Savannah Bridge. It’s fairly flat and good for walking with not too much distance between the holes. We did take a cart, which had great GPS!
There are 5 sets of Tee-boxes (Black, Gold, White, Silver and Jade) being 7300 yards from the
tips. Each hole has a Savannah history-inspired name and on the 1st Tee you are “warned” that Snakes and Alligators are common to this natural area!
Trees line all the holes and there is an abundance of green plants, shrubs and bushes. There
was limited color, other than green, but we did come across some beautiful purple flowering
plants that yellow butterflies seemed to swarm.
The “rough” was an interesting state of “puffy” and that made it a bit easier to hit from and
while you can see water in several areas of the course, there is limited water in play. As of 2023 the greens had been recently redone, so they were very firm and fast.
We rented clubs, Callaway Mavriks and they were sweet! We both really enjoyed hitting these and may considered getting a set! The driving range balls are included, so arrive early to warm-up!
We had the pleasure of playing with Curtis, who is working toward playing all 50-states and was on his 27th state. Good luck Curtis and let us know when you are headed to NY!
If time allows, head over to the Westin Hotel and enjoy a beverage and snack by the riverside and a view of historic Savannah. There is even a Ferry that can take you back and forth, if you do not have a rent-a-car!
