Quarry Ridge Golf Course, Portland CT Sept 2022 (CT Mulligan #2)

On a long weekend getaway to the lovely scenic area of Old Saybrook, CT we wanted to play a new course. In searching this area there were limited options, so we expanded our reach and found the Quarry Ridge Golf Course that was about 30 minutes north of Old Saybrook and well worth the drive!

This course sits high on a hill with views of the Connecticut River, tremendous rock formations from the old quarry, and the Meshomasic State Forest. Designed by Joe Kelly and Al Zikorus, they created an adventure with blind shots, twists, turns, ups, downs and uneven lies. It's a great value as we paid $45.00 per person including the cart - which is mandatory!

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,369 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,948 yards (very forward friendly)! The third hole is a 401 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap on the course - which converts to the one you'll have the "most fun" playing!

We enjoyed the round with two locals, Gordy and Dave who really helped us navigate the course (thank you!). After the 18th hole we immediately wanted to play again. It was challenging but fun and the kind of round you wanted another go at once you are familiar with it.

According to the Starter, whom we had a lovely chat with before our round, the course is newly owned and improvements are being made to the course and clubhouse so it should be even nicer next season.
