Powerscourt Golf Club, County Wicklow Ireland (Eastcoast) - July 2015

30 minutes from Dublin and just down the road from the Powerscourt Hotel, Marriott Autograph Collection. There are two courses, the East and West and the complex was Voted Best Parkland Golf Course in Ireland 2014 by Golfer's Guide to Ireland.

Powerscourt

We played the East Course. The East Course was designed by Walker cup captain Peter McEvoy and is a park-like course perfectly manicured, with huge beautiful trees and spectacular views of the Wicklow Mountain range featuring the Sugarloaf peak. The course is hilly and has lush and vibrant greens. Absolutely gorgeous.

The West Course was designed by David Mclay Kidd’s (Bandon Dunes in Oregon) and is completely different. We did not get to play it unfortunately but suspect it is a Links course.

If you are headed to Ireland, make time to get over to the Powerscourt area. Besides the Golf Course, it is a completely relaxing atmosphere with the spectacular Marriott hotel (including a Spa), a Garden (separate small fee - but worth it, give yourself at least 2 hours just to walk around), a Waterfall and a small quaint town.

Four days will get you time to golf twice, enjoy the Gardens and have time to relax and use the spa.
